mmm interesting:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/26056...gals-ocs-future

"The Cleveland Browns are going to make a "big push" to secure Jackson, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, who added that "They'd like to close it out." Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reported the Browns are a "legit" contender to sign Jackson due to the "big say in personnel" he would have. "

Hiring Hue Jackson would be the least Browns thing we could do and it would bring some excitement back to me that I've been lacking for the last 5 years or so with this franchise.

The Hue Jackson news brought me back to this board -- When he ultimately ends up in San Fran, I'll probably be gone again lol.

TG uses hyperbole in his sigline. This is an example. Brown has "final say" on the 53 roster. You are taking that to the extreme in saying "no control over roster." So far, I have not read anything about management forcing a potential HC to take coaches, what I have heard is that the management was letting Flip know there may still be a place for him here, again, taking it to the extreme. Take a breath, and wait to see what happens, it might not be as bad as you are imagining.

I am so GLAD you brought that up. Thank you so much.

Who rolled their eyes? Do we have quotes from named sources that this happened? Or, did this come from someone that makes people pay for "inside" information? LOL.......how do you spell gullible?

Also, wasn't the supposed source of that comment a friend of Farmer?

How about this.............Pet allegedly said that at halftime of the KC game. What happened in the second half of that game? Want some help? The Browns dominated almost the ENTIRE second half.

Which leads me to.........even if this bogus report has some truth to it..............who rolled their eyes? Are you, and the scam artist who reported it, suggesting that entire team rolled their eyes in unison? That would be hard to believe since we can't even get them to stay in their gaps, stay onside all together, and be on the same page in zone coverages.

Or, was it perhaps one guy? Two guys? What if the guys were Gilber and Bowe? How meaningful would that be?

Look here.........anyone w/an ounce of integrity would admit that the team played hard to the bitter end, even in the last game when everyone knew Pet was gone.

I don't disagree with that. Mour said the firing of Chud set us back 5 years. My point is if he was so good, maybe he would be involved in the interview process.

I like Pet. I understand why he was canned, but would have been good if he stayed.

We aren't going to have a GM. We are going to have a talent evaluator.

Flip's 1st stint in Oakland was for 2 seasons 2007 and 2008 as Qb coach.
His 2nd was 2012-2014 again as Qb coach

In between he was assistant Qb coach with the Jets then Qb coach with San Jose St then OC/Qb coach at San Jose St.

Jackson was with Oakland in 2010 as OC and HC in 2011

Peen. I am pretty sure he had one interview last year none this year.

Vers I remember that Pats game at the end of the year. That team had not given up. last game yea they were sleep walking but Lombardi was already calling the media letting them know chud was gonna be fired. similar to Alec was doing to Pet this year. hell it was even worse for Pet, when you start hearign the browns hired a search firm 2 months left in the season.

Anyway, the firing of chud set us back because no one wanted the job and we got stuck with the one guy desperate enough to take the job. We had an entire new offense for the team to learn. which this year will make the 4th offense we have installed in under 4 years.

Its just a never ending cycle of incompetence.

One key factor in the #Browns favor: Hue Jackson would have significant personnel control if he was hired. Not sure others could offer that

Didn't he interview with the Giants today?

Wonder how serious the Giants are with Jackson.

I hate this argument. That coordinating staff was pretty stacked with Norv Turner and Ray Horton at the helm. I agree with the original poster. Firing that group truly did set this team back.

Just a note about Nick Saban, he is on the verge of achieving Bear Bryant status. He stays at Alabama and he could displace Bryant in college football lore, and specifically Alabama lore. He is king over all he surveys.

Why would he leave all that to coach the Browns? (or any team in the NFL for that matter?)

I like Chud and the hire, but the fact remains the guy hasn't sniffed a head coaching job since.

That has to say something.

Hue Jackson had the Raiders ranked #2 in scoring offense and #1 in rushing with Jason Campbell at QB and scrubs at WR (if my memory serves me right). Raiders fans I talked to said he did a phenomenal job turning the team into "bullies." Not thugs, but physical "don't take crap" bullies.

His biggest red flag and it is a huge one. The raiders were the most penalized team in NFL history that year.

I recant on saying only New England HC has final say on the 53.

Pete Carroll also has final say on the 53.

Sorry mac for the erroneous info.

In other words, Gase preferred the Dolphins structure over all other teams, including the Browns.

No, he didn't chose the Dolphins over the Browns. He didn't have a choice. He wasn't offered a job with the Browns or anywhere else. How in the hell do you know he wouldn't have accepted the job with the browns if it was offered. Tell me how you ABSOLUTELY KNOW he'd have chosen the Dolphins over the Browns.. Tell me!

Now, maybe in the interview, it was discovered he wasn't a fit for what the Browns are attempting and maybe that's why they didn't offer him a job.

WKYC is now saying that Hue Jackson will be offered the HC job as early as today. He's being courted by the 49ers and the Giants also.

If Jackson is Officially offered the job and turns it down to take another position, then you have something to talk about.

bonefish...just what does the quote mean?..."big say in personnel"?

It does not say the coach has control of the 53 or that the GM has control of the 53.

I could hear Haslam/or someone in his circle attempting to sell the idea of Sashi Brown controlling the 53 with the quoted comment.

Having a "big say in personnel" is open for interpretation...

a Head Coach coming to Cleveland gets...no say in GM

Perhaps you were miss informed.

What I do know and I don't know much about what they are doing to come out with certain facts that are being bantered around.

The fact I do know they were pretty concise that they wanted to hire the HC FIRST and then have him sit in on the committee to hire the GM cause its important for them to be on the same page. He is going to have a big say in who the GM is.

daman...if the Browns HC opening was a job Gase wanted to consider, he would not have signed with the Dolphins.

All Gase had to do was wait for second interviews.

If I had to take a guess on who would roll their eyes it would have been Gilbert. Just an educated guess.

Whatever did happen fact is the team came on the field and did not quit. We have experienced that many times to actually know the difference from Losing and giving up. Maybe not to the MAN 100% but the starters and most the backups believed in Pet and wanted him to remain.
