That could be. I don't think it was that way when he was a coordinator, but it could now that he has been a head coach and is now back to interviewing for coordinator positions.

Pitt can't keep their own players under control. JuJu and Claypool yapping away. LeVeon Bell(e) and Antoino Brown had huge issues. Roethisberger run-ins with the law/rape/sexual assault charges. Todd Haley drunk and in a alleged bar fight. Jeff Reed was drunk in public and had disorderly conduct filed.

I agree. A lot of Browns fans on social media are praising the possibility of him being hired in Pittsburgh, while they forget that his offenses in Cincinnati torched us a few times (albeit with our team being much worse talent-wise).

I agree. It was very Rex Ryan-y. The only problem is that Rex Ryan was also a very good defensive coach so he was able to sustain his act longer because he actually did good stuff.

Rex Ryan is and was always a PUTZ...he took a team that Mangini built and was in the AFC Conference Championship game. Then as the team took on HIS MOLD...they slowly went from SB contender to PUTZ led team. What he did for his ego. Play Sanchez in the 4th quarter of the last PRESEASON game to beat the Giants but ended up Ruining Sanchez's career with a season ending injury that he never recovered from. He's a PUTZ!!! All talk

Good enough to bring them to the Championship game. Yep that injury did. He was a promising QB and was getting better till that game happened. It wasn't about the Quarter of a preseason game it was THE INJURY at a time that NOT ONE NFL COACH would do to their starting QB. This was not intended to be a debate on the play of Sanchez but the EGO decision made by a "PUTZ" of a HC.

While the Eagles new HC might not project a good example of what he trying to explain about the need for smart players...HE IS RIGHT..
Smart football players are preferred as playbooks and schemes become more complicated.
The Browns have their own warts with examples of the defenses LBs and DBs appeared to be confused at times. This year being a Covid year, a lack of practice reps had to be challenge for our new coaches.
I am SO glad our coaching staff is staying intact going into the new season. Stability is a valuable commodity. I know Woods gets a lot of grief on the board, but he'll get a lot of injured people back this year, plus draft and whatever free agent additions there are. I'm kinda surprised Callahan didn't get some calls. Maybe he did and I just don't know.

When is the last time we returned our entire coaching staff? Freddie got fired after one year, Hue fired the entire defensive staff, then the entire offensive staff, Pettine lost Shanahan after one year, Chud was one and done, Shurmur? Was it Shurmur? I can’t remember who was on his staff and if they got fired or not?

I know a few brilliant people that aren't really adept at speaking to people outside of their circles or in front of a lot of people, trying to explain issues with their specialty to others in the organization during formal meetings and whatnot.
Now if this is how he presents in front of the team, then they have problems. But we can't assume this is the case. If we took Belichik's pressers as an indication of how he presented himself to his team, I don't think we would come to the conclusion that he's one of the greatest "leaders of men" of all time. That guy was always horribly uncomfortable in front of a camera.
Public speaking is stressful and difficult. I've had to give presentations and do staff education....it was frightening and difficult at first, then it became easier to the point where I enjoy doing it. It doesn't for some people, they just can't get over that anxiety barrier. It's easy for a keyboard warrior to make fun of someone who's not good at it.

jfan...I would be one of those, minus the 'brillant' qualifier..lol. I hate to speak before a group but when I had to, the more I did the better I was at it. But, I still would rather not prefer to speak publicly.
Back to the subject of smarter football players who are able to understand the X and O concepts and develop football smarts...that type of player can be a welcomes advantage to most coaches.
IMO, it appears that Stefanski's offense relies on the players ability to execute their assignments. The fact that the offensive line was able to adjust, plugging in several backup linemen and still be able to produce might indicate that those coaches have the ability to be excellent teachers of their group of players.

It's easy/lazy to poke fun at how he speaks, but I'd be more worried about what he's saying. He says he wants a smart team but he has to simplify things way down for them because they're dummies. Also, simple systems only work if you have a bunch of talent.
