Doing the quick math here... with 94% of the vote in, Crowley was up by 1198 votes... then, when the flash drives were "fixed" he increased his lead by another 1194 votes... from a mere 3% of the ballots cast! He doubled his lead!

Trump’s South Korea move rattles foreign policy world
President Trump’s decision to reduce joint military exercises with South Korea is being met with derision from Democrats and fears from other allies who are already worried over the president’s past willingness to toss aside longtime defense commitments.
Trump said it was too late to fully cancel what he called expensive and provocative joint exercises known as Ulchi Freedom Shield but directed the Pentagon to “substantially reduce” the drills on Sunday — just a day before they were set to start.
The war games are a major part of a mutual defense treaty between the U.S. and South Korea, meant to protect Seoul from possible North Korean aggression.
The announcement, made in a Truth Social post, further added insult to injury by excoriating Seoul for refusing to help the U.S. in its war against Iran.
This is not the first time Trump has criticized the exercise. In 2018, he said he was suspending the drills after meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.
But in curtailing the planned 10-day war game, Trump risks further alienating vital allies and partners, making the U.S. less safe in the process, analysts say.
Rear Adm. Mark Montgomery, senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said that “watering down U.S.-South Korea military exercises is a risky move that lowers coalition readiness and puts U.S. forces at risk with no real tangible benefit to the United States.”
He said Trump “does not seem to understand that North Korea is part of the ‘bad guys’ team.”
“North Korea threatens key American allies and trade partners — South Korea and Japan — daily,” he added. “Kim Jong Un is not America’s friend, he cannot be reasoned with, and he won’t give up his nuclear weapons. There is no Nobel Prize in Pyongyang.”
The president has said the exercises come across as unnecessarily hostile toward North Korea and has touted his “very good relationship” with Kim.
“Based on my very good relationship with Kim Jong Un, of North Korea, I am not happy with the fact that the United States has, long ago, agreed to participate in Joint Military Exercises with South Korea,”[/b] he wrote on social media.
“These exercises are not only costly, with much of these costs paid for by the United States of America (as usual!), but send a signal that is totally inappropriate and hostile, to a Country that, as long as Donald J. Trump has been President, has been unthreatening and respectful,” the president added.
Trump noted Seoul’s decision not to get involved with the Iran war.
“While somewhat unrelated, I recently asked the President of South Korea if they would like to join us in the Denuclearization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they said, ‘No thanks!’” the president wrote on social media.
On Monday, Trump said he was turned off by South Korea not agreeing to help the U.S. denuclearize Iran even though the U.S. has troops in South Korea to deter aggression from North Korea.
He told reporters he recently spoke on the phone with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and asked if the South Korean leader would give the U.S. “a little hand” with Iran.
“I called him. I said, ‘Would you like to give us a little hand? We don’t need help with Iran, but if you’d like, give us a hand with Iran.’ He said, ‘No thanks.’ And I said, ‘Wait a minute. We have 39,000 soldiers over there, guarding you from Kim Jong Un, your next-door neighbor, and you’re not going to help us on a very easy military operation in Iran. That’s strange,’” Trump told reporters Monday in the Oval Office.
“We can’t go around and protect all of these countries, especially when they’re not there to help us,” he added.
Outside observers said it was obvious Trump was frustrated with the lack of support from key U.S. allies on the Iran front.
“Trump obviously he’s got his mind fixed on Iran right now, and it’s pretty clear that he still holds some frustration toward American partners and allies whom he asked for help and rebuffed him, and South Korea is on that list,” said Michael Sobolik, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute.
Sobolik also said Trump has long held the perspective that South Korea is not doing enough in housing some 28,500 troops on the peninsula — most notably trying in his first term to pull American forces out of the country.
“I think he has locked in this distrust not just of the Koreans but of the value that America being there actually has,” he told The Hill.
That leaves the relationship between the two, “not in a great place,” Sobolik said. “This definitely feeds into preexisting doubt that the Koreans have had about the United States and Trump specifically.”
Lawmakers have also weighed in with their frustration over the scaled back exercises.
“China and Russia are watching how easily this President abandons America’s allies, and they will remember it the next time they test us,” Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in a statement Monday.
Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) called Trump’s decision “shortsighted” and a “mistake.”
“North and South Korea are still technically at war,” Kelly wrote on social media Sunday. “Our ability to help defend our ally against the North Koreans is because our forces are well trained and able to coordinate with the South Koreans.”
“Hollowing out these joint exercises is shortsighted and a mistake,” the Arizona senator added.
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) wrote on social media that the reduction “does nothing more than free up thousands of North Korea’s troops to support Putin’s systematic kidnapping, torture, rape, and murder of innocent Ukrainian citizens.”
Dan Blumenthal, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, said there is precedent for Trump to look at canceling or scoping down exercises with South Korea “in hopes of making progress on talks with North Korea in his first term, which didn’t … pan out.”
He added: “So … it’s something that is at the front of his mind, you know, on a fairly constant basis when he thinks about the Korean Peninsula.”
Blumenthal also told The Hill the reduction of exercises “hurts us. It hurts the alliance. It hurts deterrence.”
Still, South Korea seems to want to improve relations with North Korea and hopes that Trump has the ability to do that. South Korea’s Lee has pushed for Trump to facilitate direct talks with Kim to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
Trump, during his first term, met with Kim three times.
Blumenthal said the way to foster dialogue with Kim is not through reduced exercises.
“We get nothing out of reducing our exercise program with South Korea,” he said, adding that it “certainly will appear like a concession … even if that wasn’t the main purpose behind them in the action.”
Some, though, have called the move to reduce the exercises as strategic.
Jennifer Kavanagh, the director of military analysis at Defense Priorities, called it “both a necessary and strategically wise one aligned with U.S. interests.”
“For decades, the Pentagon has argued that U.S. military exercises with South Korea advance several objectives, including deterring aggression by North Korea and China; encouraging regional stability; and preparing U.S. and South Korean soldiers to operate together in a contingency,” she said in a statement. “The reality is that there is little evidence bilateral exercises support any of these aims. In fact, they seem to work in the other direction.”
She added that the exercises “unnecessarily burn U.S. resources and readiness at a time when the United States is running low on both.”
Others have said not to panic just yet, as U.S.-South Korea relations have appeared pretty stable up until this point.
“He had a good meeting with President Lee in Busan in October, and he also agreed to give technology to South Korea to allow them to build nuclear short submarines, so it’s possible that something suddenly changed regarding Iran. But I also think there’s a possibility something is going on behind the scenes that we haven’t seen yet,” said Evan Sankey, policy analyst at the Cato Institute.
“If this were to go so far as to withdraw troops from South Korea, then we’re talking about long- term damage,” he added.
Another treaty agreement trump has broken we can now add to the list. Nobody can trust the word of the U.S. anymore because whether we honor an agreement with them can hinge on a single election.

You see, sometimes there actually is a middle ground on which to least most people can agree.
Sometimes there is a middle ground even if by the slimmest of margin. Sometimes there isn't. Some things are black and white. Did you pay for the item or did you steal the item? That is an either or question. There is nothing in between. As humans sometimes we can understand the motivations and even be willing to forgive things but in the end either you did steal something or you didn't.
As a very young child a friend and I got on the bread truck and each took a jaw breaker or piece of bubble gum. My mom and the breadman saw our little caper. Yes, in the early 50's the bakery and local dairy would send out trucks in to the neighborhoods to go door to door to sell their products. Moms were almost always at home back then. The breadman was willing to forgive me. I was just a 5 year old kid. He didn't care. My mom sure did. After my friend and I returned from running off after our heist she took me in the house to have that motherly talk about right and wrong, then like a leopard she turned and tanned my ass pretty good.

As of now according to registered voter information Florida has just slightly less than 1.5 million more registered Republican voters than Democrats. So it isn't just a "Republican-leaning state". I didn't say wouldn't. I said probably wouldn't as the owner might not press charges and then the prosecutor might decide to not prosecute. People rob banks and stores because they need the money. I don't think many do it as a form of having fun.

Your comment about the Waltons made me think of a recent soundbite I heard - it was regarding a UK podcaster who has been doing a lot on how the wealthy essentially have everything stacked in their favor. He has been a huge proponent of some form of wealth tax for the super wealthy ... He made a reply to someone asking him about the popular right wing phrase "wealth redistribution" .... his response was that the current system is all about wealth redistribution and he gave very detailed answer about why that is. And for a comparison - the wealthiest 0.01% (1 in 10,000 people) has grown their net wealth by 40% over the last 25 years. That's a proportion of the total global wealth ...
In 2000 - top 0.01% held about 8% of the world's wealth. 2025 it was about 12%. That's wealth redistribution .... just in a direction that's not the same as most commonly thought of.
And I get that no-one wants to reward the grifters and people who cheat the system (other than those that support Trump maybe) - but there is as much financial burden by the many con-artists raking and profiteering and avoiding taxes etc (Madoff, Enron, Bankman...) - as there are at the bottom taking advantage of 'welfare' ... focussing on only one doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. And trying to use the bad apples as a justification of helping the majority also makes no sense to me.

Here, I'll help. The post isn't about "five municipal grocery stores" at all. It's about the city proposing GIVING GRANTS TO ALL THE OTHER STORES so they can play on a level playing field.

Where you are wrong is it is not hate for the illegal immigrant, it is actual love of our laws. America is a land of immigrants, and we want people to come here the right way. Legal way. If someone comes here illegally breaking our laws, they have already shown they have no respect for our country, our laws, our way of life and then commit crimes like rape and murder and those heinous crimes are very much avoidable. If us citizens actual hate, we hate our laws being broken. Society will collapse if everyone breaks laws.
As for Trans. Those people need help and not encouraged. They are sexual deviants that need to seek medical help. No hate. In reality love is telling people the hard truths. Acceptance is not love. Rockefeller set prices low to run others out of business. Just showing that it works both ways, and setting low prices is the common way to run competition out of business. You don't raise prices if you seek to close some doors or make them ripe for takeover. You peg the price lower.

It's easy to understand why they were turned into felony counts. First there was a charge for each time the law was broken.
Secondly and most important are why they were felonies. They were felonies based on the prosecutor proving to the jury the key elements making them felonies...............

You're right about your observation.
Personally I think it sort of comes down to some people thinking anything is better than Trump - even an inept and incompetent Democratic Party. And then the flip side of that is some people truly believing that the American way of life is under threat by the Left - so they attack anything and everything that is Liberal.
Biden failed miserably on the southern border. I can understand this being a point of intense divide. Other than that, there's little of really big issues that I think Republican's can "die on the hill" claiming Biden was a disaster. There are probably lots of decisions people don't agree with, but I would argue those things are debatable points not a black or white failure, For example: Things like the Afghan withdrawal were set in stone by Trump and executed by the military, Biden had very little influence ... The economy got shot to pieces due to global influence - by the end of the term the economy was nicely on track. I don't personally see any other true cast iron failing. Maybe I'm missing some bigger issues? Biden developed a mental health problem that the Democrats hid - that is "unforgivable" and I said at the time that those responsible shoulder a lot of the responsibility for opening the pathway for Trump term 2.
By comparison to Biden - Trump in term 2 has multiple cast iron issues in my opinion: War in Iran, Add the incompetence shown in the War in Iran, executive overreach and erosion of the separation of powers, Removing an active head of state, ICE killing US citizens and ICE being funded as the largest law enforcement agency, a $40T national debt that is growing, attacking/belittling and alienating Western allies, tariffs used as vendettas that are hurting economies and relationships - and while it might not happen on Trump's watch I believe he has set the world in motion to move away the US dollar as the world reserve currency and petrodollar. Then there is the talk - which some don't mind, but I find deeply troubling and setting a president for a race to the bottom by all parties in the future: Greenland, the constant lies and unstable claims about Iran, and while it's trivial int he grand scheme of things the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario is truly moronic and childish.
And you're right dawglover - there is no discussion because the Trump supporters have a hangover from Biden's immigration and dementia and any of the above topics, all of which are real and discussion worthy are hard conversations ... so instead we get spammed with stories about individuals who do and say stupid things and a fringe extreme left wing political party or movement. Things like Trans issues that affect maybe 2% of the population are exploded to become emotive, populist talking points.

I know what Trump has said and done. I know the things that have been thrown out - clearly showing the DOJ in indeed going after political adversaries ... including having evidence withheld from a grand jury in order to try to obtain a prosecution.
I have not see what Letitia said or did. I have read one report of a claim that she was politically motivated.... given the publicity of this I would expect the person making the claim to have emails and documentation of the claims. I'll wait to see that before I say it happened or not. There are enough people involved that if his claim is true others will verify the claims ... if he's telling porkie pies, then I think it will become obvious.

Much like yourself, if there are facts to substantiate the allegations I'm all for seeing them and calling her out for it. And as you stated, if in fact this happened there should be some form of documentation to back it up. But as we can see, some are so busy frothing at the bit they can't wait for that.
One thing I believe is worth watching for. It is in fact a part of Letitia James job to assign people to investigate cases she sees as suspicious or worthy of investigation as the AG of New York. The fact of the matter is trump was convicted on 34 felony counts by a jury in this case. That means that there were certainly legitimate grounds for an investigation. If she in fact asked her office to investigate this case that's a far cry from telling them to go after or focus on trump.
As of now trump is failing to have this case overturned but he is certainly trying. At the present time he is making some ridiculous claim that funneling money through his attorney to hide this from the voters was part of his "official duties" as president and the courts have laughed at him.
I wouldn't be surprised to see this twisted as some grounds for him to go after a dismissal based on the grounds of malicious prosecution.

WASHINGTON — Texas Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico once decried capitalism as an “oppressive” system — along with white supremacy and climate change — that needed to be dismantled, while predicting that the Lone Star State’s fossil fuel industry was “not gonna last.”
Speaking to Sierra Club activists on a September 2020 Zoom call, Talarico warned that the US was facing the “multi-faceted threat” of a climate, economic, and social crisis.

“I’m so thankful that you asked this question and also thankful that young activists have really drawn the link between climate change and white supremacy and capitalism in our country,” Talarico responded in comments first reported by CNN.
“And I think only understanding the ways that all three of those oppressive systems work together are we going to be able to begin the process of dismantling them.”
At the time, Talarico was 31 years old and running for a second term in the Texas state legislature.
During the same forum, the Democrat dismissed the oil and gas industry, despite Texas producing 43% of the country’s crude, according to the US Energy Information Administration.
“We all know that Texas has been a leader in oil and gas, but in many ways that’s like being the leader in cassette tapes in the 1980s. That industry is not gonna last,” Talarico said.
“And if we wanna ensure we have an economy that’s gonna work for our children and our children’s children, we gotta be ahead of the curve and Texas has to lead instead of follow on this issue.”
Texas is also the country’s largest wind energy producer and by some estimates has taken the crown from California in utility-scale solar production.
“James is a proud capitalist and agrees with the majority of Texans that racism, natural disasters, and a billionaire-controlled economy are all problems we need to address,” Talarico spokesperson JT Ennis told The Post.
“James has already said he missed the mark on some of his past statements, while [Republican candidate] Ken Paxton has refused to address his comments that the school shooting in Uvalde was ‘God’s plan’ and that Texas’ abortion ban is good for interstate commerce.”
The Talarico campaign also noted that the Democrat had “taken many votes” in favor of the oil industry, and its website indicates his goal is to ensure that Texas “not only maintains, but extends” its energy dominance.
“James supports the oil and gas industry and believes in an all of the above energy strategy that protects Texas oil and gas jobs,” Ennis said of Talarico’s past comments on oil.

There are idiots on both/all sides - no one side has all the idiots, or even the majority vs 'the other' .... and on other websites 'The Left' does the same thing, spreads lies or posts random people and portrays them as representing the entire 'other side'. . . . On Dawgtalkers we only have one poster who seems to do it. Much easier to do that than have a conversation about... hmmm, say Iran, the National Debt, Supporting Putin or other things that are actually happening in Govt. today.
