Hey All, I'm wondering if people were interested in doing another board mock draft this year. Last year's draft was pretty fun and I thought some people might do it again. Unfortunately, like last year, we are pressed for time if we want to do this. If we want to do this mock draft then we're probably going to have to start on Friday at the latest. Last year we decided to vote for the Browns' first two rounds and I would suggest we do that again, although it will press the time limit even further. However, I am open to not doing that this year, if people don't want to vote on the Browns picks. Last year you could also sign up for 2 or 3 teams if they were open. Since we do want to open this up to as many people as possible, yet are pressed for time, users can only sign up for one team today, but starting tomorrow you can sign up for another team. If by Friday we have teams remaining, you can sign up for a 3rd team as well. Without further adieu here's the sign up list.

When is this board draft happening and how many rounds is it?
I think CHS wanted to start it Friday (tomorrow, or today depending on when you read this). It'll go as long as people are willing to participate - I'd guess at least 3 rounds.
I'd think with only a half dozen or so teams left, we'll start and people will slowly pick up the other teams (or we can do a vote).

Ok I would rather not take a 3rd team but if it would help get this draft started I will take the Panthers, I am on my computer most of the day doing sermons, music and other church related things, so clicking over to dawgtalkers doesn't take much ... Now if another board member comes in late I will gladly turn ownership of the Panthers over to them with no problems ...

I asked posters who were not going to be on the board for a while to submit several players in order of preference. So lets say you have the 6th pick. Sumbmit to CHS in a PM 1 - 6 players in order of preference so that at least one of them would be 100% available come time the pick is up.
I looked on Buffalo's board and they are doing a draft with no trades and it has become kaos to many people want to trade out and others want to trade up but they are stuck picking players they don't want ...
I have the #2 pick (Giants). I will be unavailable after 4:30 and because the draft has not kicked off yet and I do not wish to hold things up while I am unavailable, here are my 3 choices:
1. If Darnold is chosen #1 by the Browns, The Giants will take Saquon Barkley at #2. 2. If Darnold is not chosen #1 by the Browns, The Giants will take Sam Darnold at #2. 3. Exactly. Last year people worked out conditional trades before they picked. I've already started talking to people about trades. The 10 hours is just for the people who work 8+ hours a day and can't get to a computer in time. However, the time limit is shortened in future rounds. I do understand that you and the people before you were screwed due to the Browns picks ending at weird times. However, in the future please negotiate trades with the future in mind.

I like the boldness of the move, and based on value of the trade itself I think the Patriots made out.
Doesn't seem like the Patriots (Bill's) way to trade up like that especially considering they traded away Garopollo for only a single 2nd round pick and in this trade spent nearly twice as much to draft his replacement.
But they have a new GM that appears is preparing for the future and not trying to win now.
Yep, and that is my mistake. I added in #104 just to make sure it was accepted. I had a plan to move back up to 8 or 9 to pick the guy I still wanted and add an extra pick. Doesn't look like that will work out as planned.

I did not really want to go Lamar Jackson that early, but I don't think he nor Rudolph will be there when I pick in round 2.I even changed it twice as I was typing the post.
5 QBs in the first 15 picks - Rudolph to Buffalo at 22? I wonder if Pittsburgh likes Rudolph enough to try to jump the Bills, or if maybe they reach for someone like Luke Falk or Mike White at the end of the first round? The more QBs taken, the better; it'll drop first round talent to those two early 2nd round picks for us.

Man, I traded down from 28 to 31, hoping my choice would be easier. The Saints need a pass rusher opposite Cameron Jordan, so I was hoping Harold Landry would slide. When he was picked, I was unsure whether to go the best DT, who was sliding, or the top receiving tight end. But, with the addition of Benjamin Watson, I decided Bryan was too good to pass.
THROW LONG would pick a running back in the first round for a team that drafted a running back in the first round last year.

Oh man.... Guice would be SO mad if he were drafted to back up Fournette!!! It took him 2 years to finally get to be the lead back, only to leave college early and get drafted to be second fiddle to him!!!!
Yeah, runningback is a VERY curious spot to go when 2 of your top WRs left in free agency. I like the idea of a Jones/Fournette combo, especially with Fournette's injury history, but I would be VERY surprised to see them pass on the likes of Washington, Sutton, and Gallup for one.
Lots of great RBs and CBs left for Round 2. This is why I kind of prefer to take Chubb with the #4 pick. He's just as good as Barkley and Minka, and we should have plenty of Round 2 options available to us to fill those positions.
That said, I wonder how "biased" a mock draft like this might be. Are we all sub-consciously passing on guys we hope might drop to the Browns and taking guys we know the Browns have no interest in?

The Browns use #1 on their franchise QB. Trade the #4 overall to the Bills for 12, 22, and a 2019 2nd. Trade with the Saints for #18, whom always seem to trade out of the 1st, giving them our #33, 64 and 114.
This would give us #1, 12, 18, 22, and 35. Yikes! (and would still have a 5th and 2 6ths)

If this is a legit possibility, I like it. If I'm the Saints I'm not going to want to drop from 18 to 33 for picks 64 and 114 regardless how the "math" works out. I have a feeling we're going to be wheeling and dealing come draft day. And I don't know if there's anyone at 4 who is worth picks 12, 18, and 22.

I'm going to select Isaiah Oliver for the Browns at #35 as he received more votes in the CB poll that was running concurrent with the #33 poll. If you want Jaire Alexander for this pick and want to fight me for choosing Oliver, then I understand as I too want Jaire and will help you kick my own butt like that fight club scene.
Yeah, but when it comes to RB's, there's only one ball. You can use up to 6-7 DB's on Defense, plus they are very productive on kick and punt coverage.

Guice won't be there for you at 33, and if Jaire is, you should pick Jaire.
You can't wait on Rb's any more than you can wait on Quarterbacks, all this thinking that they will be there later in the draft always leads to watching other teams get the player you wanted.

Not to be a stick in the mud, but Seattle has 18, not New Orleans. There has been some rumors that we have talked to Seattle about trading down... so maybe you meant that. But I also see the Saints trading out of 28, so that could be another potential spot to trade up from 35 to get a player that is slipping that we covet.

Settle I think would be perfect in our D (and will go earlier thatn 64 in reality), but I get why people wouldn't want to add another defensive lineman. Bates is the best FS still available, arguably. I don't think there's an LT prospect left that is worthy of 64, but this guy if his head is on straight might be. Cain and Pettis are my favorite WR left, but I think the dropoff between these guys and what we could get in the 4th isn't that significant. Gesicki would be interesting - another receiving weapon.
BPA is probably Gesicki (TE), Hughes (CB), Settle (DT), or Green (DE).
